Sterling Bank, Olamide excite Lagosians with clean flash mob

Sterling Bank, Olamide excite Lagosians with clean flash mob

Flash mob of street sweepers toured the city of Lagos recently, doing choreographed dances while “cleaning” on the go.
Aptly named Skate and Clean, the youthful and colourful team of street sweepers on skates were led by music star Olamide Adedeji better known as Olamide Baddo.
They wore and added class to the bright orange overall uniform of the Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) employees, courtesy of Sterling Bank.
Skate and Clean was initiated by Sterling Bank as a pre awareness campaign for the Sterling Environmental Makeover (STEM) programme.
STEM is Sterling Bank’s corporate social responsibility initiative which promotes practices that protect the environment for the benefit of humanity.

How Nigerian Hip-hop is fusing with dance music to stay alive

In 2017 alone, Olamide released 5 singles including ‘Update’, ‘Wavy level’, ‘Summer body’, ‘Wo’, and ‘Love no go die’. Of all of these, only ‘Wavy level’, can be classified as a true Hip-hop record. (Pulse)As traditional Hip-hop continues to dwindle on the African continent, top musicians continue to bend its rules in creating a new fusion sound, that is deeply African, can connect, and grow in influence.
2017 marked a very tumultuous year in Hip-hop’s history. The biggest event in the genre was the release of M.I Abaga’s controversial single, ‘You rappers should fix up your life,’ which drew numerous responses from artists who were touched by the hard-truths shared by M.I Abaga. Other than that, nothing comes close.
Over the past three years, rap music in Nigeria has slowly been on an evolving trajectory, as audiences shift their focus and tastes from lyrically-driven content to rhythmic dance music. The top players of the genre, have had to adapt their art, to stay relevant, and commercial. As a  crucial survival strategy, popular rap has internalized many of the structural facets of Afro-pop music, and many rappers have helped keep the genre afloat in the mainstream.
Three mixtapes and three albums have been released by M.I in almost a decade. play Three mixtapes and three albums have been released by M.I in almost a decade.

Olamide Live In Lagos: The Concert Is Back

YBNL boss Olamide has returned with the fourth edition of Olamide Live In Concert #OLIC4, which is set to hold at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos on the 17th of December, 2017 at 12 noon.

The choice of venue, a stadium with the capacity of over 25,000 people, for the concert is no surprise because of the huge success of the three previous editions; the Wo singer undoubtedly thought it through to have more space for his growing number of fans.
Last year, Olamide Live in Concert III: Beast Mode was one of the most successful concerts of 2016, with top dignitaries like Governor Akinwinmi Ambode of Lagos State, Oba Saheed Elegushi and Senator Dino Melaye in attendance.
With the release of his new album Lagos Nawa, this concert is on track to bring Lagos to a halt and give fans what they want.

#OLIC4: Low Turnout Dampens Expectation Of A Sold Out Show

The fourth edition of Olamide’s annual concert OLIC4 is underway at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.
For the first time since the rap artiste started the series, it’s taking place outside of Eko Hotel at the 24,000 capacity arena. The logic was that as his fans continue to grow in number, he needed a bigger venue to host his thousands of fans.
Vheektor Okpala, our correspondent on ground reports that although the concert started much later than the advertised time of 12pm, the stadium is far from being filled up.

LASG beef up security ahead of Olamide’s concert

Ahead of the 2017 edition of Olamide’s annual music concert, OLIC4, scheduled to hold on Sunday, 17th December 2017 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, the Lagos State Government has begun the process of taking measures to ensure that maximum security of lives and properties is guaranteed.

Olamide Gets New Endorsement Deal From Play Nigeria

Olamide has bagged a new endorsement deal with a cable tv company, Play Nigeria. After having lost his mum a few days ago the singer sure has a positive distraction from the sad event.
The street rapper shared photos of himself on social media while signing the deal with the caption:

Don Jazzy, Olamide, others unites say "SARS"-must-scrapped

That law enforcement agents occasionally abuse their status as uniformed men to oppress unsuspecting citizens is not news. Little wonder Nigerian musicians have passionately condemned the unethical practice, calling on the government to scrap the Special Anti Robbery Squad arm of the Nigeria Police Force.

In a series of tweets on social media, top musicians including Don Jazzy, Olamide, Simi, Falz, Reekado Banks, Dremo, Jon Ogah, DJ Spinall, Sam Klef, Tjan, Lil Kesh among others, called on the federal government to scrap the SARS unit of the Police Force as a result of their excesses. “Over 100,000 tweets from concerned Nigerians. The people don’t feel protected. If we cannot fix SARS then end SARS”, Don Jazzy lamented.

Olamide’s Back to Uncontrollably Releasing The Music. Listen to ‘Update’

There comes a number of times where something happens that everyone has grown so used to and therefore surprises nobody. Olamide releasing umpteen singles in the build up to an album in November which is followed by OLIC in December has become one of those things we’ve come to expect. After starting the year in the slowest fashion, we’ve slowly seen Baddo show that the first to the race doesn’t necessarily guarantee success. While he took the first quarter off, he has worked his way into typical Baddo form with some releases that have done well like Wavy Level and Wo as well as some lucid tracks like Love No Go Die and Summer Body. His fifth individual release of the year, Update sees him connect with Young Jonn on a record that’ll more likely than not go under the lucid list.
